A Trip to the Library with My Grandson, Logan

Recently, I decided to take my grandson, Logan, to the Toddler Time at the local library.  I often go to the library in the morning to work on my posts. It never ceases to amaze me how well-behaved and nonchalant the kids I see there are. I said to myself, “Logan can do that, too. He’s 2 years old.”

Logan and I take a trip to the library.

So, we get there and there’s a circular room set up for the kids.  Lots of little ones all around. Two-year-olds like Logan are there, but also infants in baby seats or laying on blankets on the floor.

Oh, I forgot to tell you, when my daughter dropped him off, Logan had on shorts, a cute shirt, and motorcycle boots.  And, he really likes the sound his boots make as they hit the floor. He looked so cute in his little boots, I was sure they’d be a hit on our library trip. I proudly took his hand and we entered the room.

This is gonna be so much fun!

Logan was pretty excited to see all the kids at Toddler Time.  I’d guess there were about 20 and, of course, they were with their parents or caregivers.

Did you ever see the way a little one acts when they see a doggie? How they want to go up and touch it’s face and eyes while making cooing sounds?  Yeah, that was Logan. Going from baby to baby, touching and cooing. Some grownups were cool with that, others, not so much.

These boots were made for walking…

Let’s add to that the boots.  They’re pretty substantial and make a fair amount of noise as Logan does double-time runs around the room.  All that clicking and stomping so close to the little ones on blankets was a bit too much for some adults.

If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands!

Soon, the librarian came and said,  “Children, welcome to Toddler Time. Please have a seat and we’ll get started.”  Then, they sang the “Hello” song and clapped along. That is, everyone but Logan sat down and clapped to the “Hello” song.  He wanted to keep visiting the other kids.

trip to the library is quiet or you'll get dirty looks
Someone is getting the stink-eye at the library.

Feeling the ‘evil eye’ from some of the others, my grandson and I hop-skipped on outta there.
