My name is Barbara Tucker and I am your Dance Safari guide.   I am a born and bred New Yorker now happily residing in Raleigh, NC with my beautiful Australian Shepherd-Cattle Dog mix (they’re called Texas Heelers). Her name is Roxie.

My faithful companion, Roxie.

Ballroom dancing has been my passion for most of the past 40 years.   I started as a student at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in New York City and was trained by both the United States and World Champions.  Competing professionally in American and International Ballroom styles, my partner and I won the United States Rising Star Championship (our first time out) and repeatedly made the finals in the Professional Division.

I have been a teacher, owner, dance director, studio manager, and now a blogger.   I am so grateful to the instructors who showed me that I could learn – it changed my world.

As much as I love all things related to ballroom dancing, we’ll spend time on some other lifestyle-related topics as well.

As for me, I have two daughters, Nicolette and Cheyenne, and two grandsons, Joe and Logan.  Both Nicolette and her son Joe have been part of their school’s Latin Dance Team. Love that!

I hope you enjoy your journey.  I intend to serve you with sass, style, & knowledge!
