Passionate About Ballroom Dancing? Join the Club

I never dreamed it would happen to me. After all, it was the early 1970s and I didn’t know anybody my age who was doing ballroom dancing! Dances like the Bump, the YMCA line dance, and that Saturday Night Fever disco finger-pointing thingy were all the rage. Foxtrot, Tango, Cha Cha? Hell to the no. I’m not 90 years old. But, then it happened. I moved to NYC and wanted a hobby that would make it easy to meet new people. So, I took a free ballroom dance lesson at the Fred Astaire Studio on 5th Avenue in Manhattan. That’s when I became passionate about ballroom dancing. Now, fifty years later, I still am.

To be passionate about ballroom dancing feels good.

Believe it or not, confidence in your partner dancing skills is a life-changer.

Join the club means welcome to the ballroom dance community.

It’s a given that you’ll meet lots of people and make new friends. Not only that, but isn’t it nice to have friends who are also passionate about ballroom dancing?

Ballroom dance studios and dance clubs are great places to meet other dancers.

Becoming more physically active means better health and well-being.

Your appearance will benefit from better posture, balance, and flexibility. And, you won’t even have to go to the gym.

Tired of the same ol’ thing every day?

Get up, go to work, home for dinner, watch tv…it gets old after a while. Get some ballroom dancing into your life and start living again. No more plopping down on the couch after dinner. It’s about time you got dressed up to go out dancing. You may think you’ll be too tired, but once you start you’ll be so excited you won’t want to stop.

Of course, it takes more than a waive of a wand to become a good social dancer.

That’s why you’re gonna love taking lessons. What’s not to like about going to a friendly studio and working with encouraging instructors? It’s easier than you thought it would be.

By the way, partner dancing comes in many flavors.

To begin with, there’s social ballroom dancing for fun. If you like to show off there are plenty of opportunities to compete or perform. The world of Latin dancing is always exciting and a good workout, too. Let’s not forget Country Western dancing. It’s for sure you can’t beat the music and enthusiasm at a CW club. We have to acknowledge the most passionate partner dance of all, the Tango. Finally, lots of dancers love East and West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Balboa, and the Hustle and will look for clubs that play that music. Enjoy this West Coast Swing playlist.

In my world, passion is spelled TANGO!

The truth is, once you get started with ballroom dancing, you will understand how excited dancers are about it. You and your partners will surely feel like you can’t get enough. What are you waiting for?
