You Need Ballroom Dancing in Your Life – 10 Reasons Why

There’s no denying that ballroom dancing is one of life’s great pleasures. I believe there are lots of ways it makes things better. Recently, I was challenged to list what I consider to be the top 10 reasons you need ballroom dancing in your life. Here goes.

Why ballroom dance?

To look better, of course.

1. Painless exercise for mind and body

Most folks would agree that a person with a fit body and a curious mind is pretty nice to be around.

For that reason, if you’re looking for a great exercise program, I’ve got to recommend ballroom dancing. It’s the perfect exercise for the mind and the body. And, it’s a fun and sneaky way to get and stay in shape. Now, don’t get me wrong…you’re gonna sweat. But, you probably won’t feel like you’re at the gym.

The mind is a terrible thing to waste“.

Here’s one place where ballroom dancing stands out. By learning about movement, step patterns, partnership techniques, and more, you are definitely conditioning your mind, as well as your body.

2. Be more expressive

Embrace your powerful, soft, or passionate side. Let the world watch as you give yourself up to the music. Your joy makes it a pleasure not only for you, but for anyone who sees it.

3. care for and take pride in your body and it’s appearance.

All dancers demand so much from their bodies. That’s because when you’re a dancer, you’re a musician and your body is your instrument. You must care for it so it’ll always be in top dancing condition.

  • Eat a variety of healthy foods
  • Stay hydrated
  • Stretch
  • Dress for your body type
  • Use hair and makeup to enhance your appearance

4. You need ballroom dancing because it provides a compelling reason to get dressed up and go out after work.

You know what I mean. Therefore, ’nuff said.

5. becoming a good social dancer is a confidence-builder.

Build all-around confidence as you accept the challenge to learn to dance and actually accomplish it. You know you made the right choice because you’re moving with ease and assurance. And, it looks good on you!

It’s great to look better, but you gotta dance to feel better, too.

6. Make new friends.

It feels good to meet people and make new friends. When you join their exclusive community, you can hang out with people who also love ballroom dancing. Spend some time sprucing up your skills and you’ll be welcomed with open arms.

Here’s my favorite song about friends, Randy Newman’s “You’ve Got a Friend in Me“. Besides, I think it’s a pretty nice Foxtrot.

7. Ballroom dancing is an important social skill.

Any time you’re around music and dancers, wouldn’t it be lovely to be able to give your dance partner a good experience. As a student of ballroom dancing, you’ll be a desirable and sought-after partner.

8. Stressed out?

I’m not gonna say learning ballroom dancing is stress-free. It’s not. But, stressed-out professionals all around the world use it to put their heads in a better place.

9. Feel the need to enjoy a healthier lifestyle?

It’s a fact that dancers don’t drink much when they’re at a dance club.  Consequently, if you don’t drink or you’re looking to cut back on your alcohol consumption, you might want to consider taking up ballroom dancing.

10. Simply have more fun

No more sitting on the sidelines while everybody else has all the fun.

In conclusion, although there are many benefits of learning ballroom dancing, these are my top ten. My list is personal, however, it’s real. I advise you to get out there and give it your time. You will never regret it!
