Animated Cartoons and Ballroom Dancing

Animated cartoons and ballroom dancing play well together. Cartoons that feature ballroom dances such as Tango, Swing, and Waltz are fun to watch. And, I’ll bet anything that the animators love giving the gift of dance to their characters.

4 Animated Cartoons with Dancing

1. Beauty and the Beast – Dancing Scene

When it was released in 1991, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast won Academy, Golden Globe, and Grammy Awards. As a matter of fact, it was “the first animated feature film in the history of the Oscars nominated for Best Picture” according to Disney’s website.

2. Tango Cartoon Dance by Alex

Alex Sarropoulos is clearly a fan of the Tango. In addition to Tango Cartoon Dance, he has published many videos of Tango performances, both live and animated.

3. Welcome to the Ballroom presents Finding Your Passion.

In the anime series, Welcome to the Ballroom, a teenage boy discovers his passion for ballroom dancing. He can’t resist the stylish glamour of it as he watches a competition video.

4. Silly Symphonies – The Skeleton Dance from Walt Disney Animation Studios

Although it’s not a ballroom dance, The Skeleton Dance is too much fun to leave out. Produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, this 1929 animated cartoon inspired many knockoffs. As you can imagine, Halloween videos with dancing skeletons are pretty popular.

While we’re on the subject of Halloween, a homeowner in Richmond, Texas made an unusual display of skeletons in her front yard. While there’s nothing strange about using skeletons to decorate for Halloween, she took it a step further and actually recreated a strip club. This you’ve gotta see!

One Last Thing

When it comes to dancing in animated cartoons, we can’t leave out Disney’s 1940 Fantasy/Musical, “Fantasia“.
