My Heart Beats to the Rhythm of Love

If having your heart beat to the rhythm of love sounds good to you, the way to achieve it is to love yourself. Although that’s a given, let’s be honest here. Obviously, there’s nothing like being on the receiving end of love. Really, don’t you just want somebody to love?

With the rhythm of love, your heart beats strong and fills you with happiness. Without it, there’s something missing. Can I recommend a solution? Ballroom dancing! When you make dance a part of your life, its rhythms will lead the way to love. Dances like Cha Cha, Rumba, Salsa and Bolero just might do the trick.

(By the way, some of you will want to check out this Dance Safari post, “Newly Divorced Man? Learn to Dance”.)

These Latin dances are sure to get your heart beating.

The rhythm of love begins with the Cha Cha.

The Cha Cha is a playful and flirtatious dance that’s high energy and shows off lots of hip action. It plays up the interest, curiosity, and attraction you feel at the beginning of a relationship.

After a while, the Rumba takes over.

The Rumba is known as the ‘dating’ dance. You’re getting to know and trust each other. Things are progressing to acceptance and romance. Unlike Cha Cha, which has a sharp staccato beat, the Rumba is steady and smooth, the same way your heart beats when you’re happy and healthy.

Next comes Salsa and things are beginning to heat up.

Salsa is spicy and fast with flashy turns and spins. It’s hard to play coy when you’re dancing the Salsa. Not only that, but with a tempo this quick, your heart is gonna beat hard.

Finally, we get to the Bolero, the true rhythm of love.

Ah, we save the best for last. The movement and expression of the Bolero are romantically passionate and sensual. Because the tempo is slow, it demands the fluidity and balance that can only come with time. This is an intense dance that shows the couple longing to be close as they expose their true feelings.

To feel good, express yourself in love and in dance.

The rhythm of love brings joy and happiness to anyone lucky enough to experience it. Here’s a post from the Ultimate Ballroom in Cordova, TN. They asked their students to let them know, “What I Love About Ballroom Dancing”.

As you can see, it’s not so far fetched to compare dancing to our love relationships. And, learning to dance is more than just steps. It’s also expressing emotion for the music, the audience, and your partner. In fact, this is what it means to have your heart beat to the rhythm of love.

    • I can certainly understand why. Cha Cha is so much fun and, like the Rumba, it goes to many different kinds of music. They’re related but so different, don’t you think?
Thanks for your comment. I always enjoy your posts.

      • Yes there are steps you can use for both. I enjoy the rhythm not too fast but not too slow. And Tango another favorite. I enjoy reading your blogs as well.
